Grounded in Christ, Growing in Service

Mission Statement

Our Vision

We believe that God has called us to the work of bridge building in all that we do. We desire to build bridges to new people, to other churches and into the community. In all that we do we wish to lift up Jesus Christ and build bridges of faith to Him!

Our Beliefs

  1.   God – We believe in one God revealed in the Bible as the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 3:16-17, 1 John 5:1-6)
  2.  The Bible – The Bible is God’s Word and it is our rule for life and for the practice of our faith. (Hebrews 4:12, 2 Peter 1:21)
  3.  God’s Love – God’s unconditional love was made manifest in the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. At His very nature God is love. (John 3:16, 1 John 4:16)
  4.  Personal Faith – Although God loves everyone, people are separated from God by sin. Only by faith in Christ do people find forgiveness, God’s meaning for their lives, and have the promise of heaven. (John 3)
  5.  Christian Liberty – Each believer is free to follow God as the Bible and the Holy Spirit guides him or her. (Galatians 5:13-14)
  6.  Freedom of Interpretation – The work of the Spirit will assist every believer in the interpretation of the Holy Scripture. In the variety of interpretations we find richness and new ways of viewing the Word. (John 16:13, Isaiah. 28:10)
  7. The Local Church – We believe that the local church is the final authority in deciding matters of faith and practice. The church belongs to Jesus Christ and He guides the church through the Word and by the direction of His Spirit. In significant matters of faith and business we find that guidance in the vote of the active members with majority rule prevailing. (Acts 15, Matthew 16:18)
  8.  The Lord’s Supper – The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice for us. All believers are welcome at His table. (Mark 14:22-26)
  9.  Baptism of Believers – Baptism symbolizes the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. The method of our baptism is by immersion. A person is eligible to be baptized after they have proclaimed faith in Christ. (Romans 6)
  10. Equality – All Christians are equal in God’s sight and both men and women have the same access to God’s promises. (Galatians 3:25-29, Acts 10:34)
  11. Open Membership – We recognize other Christian churches as legitimate parts of the Body of Christ and receive their baptisms as authentic, even if different from our own. (John 10:16, Mark 9:38-39)
  12. Every Member a Minister – Every member needs to be actively involved in at least one of the ministries of the church and faithfully supporting the work of the Gospel. (1 Peter 2:4-5, Ephesians 4:7-12)
  13. Mission – The mission of Christ’s church is to bring lost people to faith in Jesus and help to establish God’s Kingdom of love, peace and justice on earth. (Micah 6:8, Matthew 28:19-20)
  14. Marriage – Marriage is the union of a man and a woman, and it is God’s plan that marriage lasts a lifetime. If divorce does occur however, we believe that God’s grace allows for healing and new life. Divorced and/or remarried persons are welcome in every part of the ministry here. (1 Corinthians 7:15, 2 Corinthians 5:17-18, Genesis 1:27-28)

Our Core Values

Core values are the essential priorities of the church. We consider these values to be critically important for life together.

We are followers of Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is our savior, guide, example and friend. We read of His life in the Holy Bible (the Book that guides our life), pray in His name to the Father, and experience His touch in our hearts. We believe in Jesus!

We will speak the truth

Christians are supposed to be honest, and we believe in being honest people and speaking the truth in a loving way. It is only the truth that lasts, only the truth that helps, and only by speaking the truth does real communication between people happen. We will speak the truth!

We will practice Christian love

For us love is not just a feeling, it is an action. We define love as the willingness to take action in the best spiritual interests of another. That kind of love is shown in extending help, showing concern, being forgiving, and acting in ways that further God’s plan and purposes in the world. In every area of life we will ask ourselves, “What is the loving thing to do?” We will practice love!

We are a family

We do not come together for only a program or event. We join the church to respond to Christ’s command, and we become part of a new family. In all families there are things that family members do for each other. They help one another, they care about one another, and they participate in each other’s lives. We will be family to each other!

We are people of positive faith & spirit

The Holy Spirit lives in every Christian. That is something that happens through placing faith in Jesus Christ. After that initial exciting moment it is easy to go back to seeing life in discouraging terms. We will be people that choose to look at life as full of possibilities because of Jesus. Each problem can be something that God can use to enlarge our faith and help us to make a difference in the world. Discouragements, problems and challenges are all part of life and we will use faith in Christ to help us overcome those seasons of distress. We will be people with a positive spirit!
